PJFM’s first and hopefully not last collaboration with the Kaiserman JCC? Check. Success? Double check! The two historic organizations united for the family-friendly Thursdays at the J series this summer, screening three films on the JCC’s baseball field at dusk: The Goonies (1985), Heading Home: The Tale of Team Israel (2018), and Jews of the Wild West (2022).
Chairs, blankets, and popcorn (and bug spray, of course) were aplenty as moviegoers got nice and cozy and enjoyed these delightful films, one of which (Jews of the Wild West) is already sweeping Jewish film festivals across the country. As the sun went down and the weather got cooler, guests were also treated to JCC’s kosher snacks, which the organization graciously offered. Before The Goonies, the first film of the series, PJFM played a fun Goonies/Steven Spielberg trivia round where one special winner was awarded both a free day at the JCC’s pool and an All-Access Pass to PJFM’s upcoming Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival, happening in-person November 12-19.
