Levana Zamir was born in Cairo, Egypt. After the creation of the State of Israel, she was expelled with her parents in 1949, leaving all their assets behind.

She is President of the Jews from Egypt Association in Israel, advocating many years for the Recognition of the History, Tragedy and Heritage of the almost million Jewish Refugees from Arab Countries.

An expert in the Jews of Egypt History, she wrote many books and articles on this subject and got the Prime Minister Award in 2016 for Academic Research on the Jews of Egypt.
