A seventh generation Jerusalemite, Lilly Rivlin came to the USA as a child with her family. She has had an interesting life. She lived in Washington, DC, received her B.A. from George Washington University, and then went on to graduate school at the University of California, Berkeley in the early 60s, a time of great societal changes in the U.S. Rivlin received an MA in Political Science and focused on India and non-violence in the political realm. During this time, she developed her lifelong passions as an activist/feminist.

She returned to Israel in 1963 and was the main researcher for O Jerusalem, which began a life of journalism, photography, and storytelling. Her credits are many as a researcher, consultant, and film interviewer (including Pillars of Fire (1983) for Israel TV). From 1970-73, she was commissioned by David Putnam and Sanford Liebersohn to write and develop The History of the Jews in 13 parts for TV. It was not made.

Rivlin is the author of two books, When Will the Fighting Stop? and Welcome to Israel!.  She has written prize-winning scripts and published many articles. In mid-life she began making documentaries where she has established a reputation as a documentarian of women and activism. She won the Miller Reel Jewish Woman Filmmaker Award winner for 2013.  She has made seven documentaries to date. HEATHER BOOTH: CHANGING THE WORLD is the third in a trilogy about activist women.
