Géza Röhrig was born in Budapest, Hungary. At 15, he founded an underground punk band, HuckRebelly. He studied Polish Literature at the Jagiellonian University in Warsaw and has a Masters in Directing from the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest. He starred in both a Hungarian and a Polish film during this time.

In the early 90ss, Géza lived in Jerusalem and then spent two years studying at a Hasidic yeshiva in Brooklyn. He has lived in New York since 2000 where he earned an MA in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary. In 2015, he starred in the Hungarian Auschwitz movie, Son of Saul, which went on to win the Grand Prix in Cannes, the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film, and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. He currently has two films in post-production, The Chaperone and Undergods.

Géza has published eight volumes of poetry and one short story collection in Hungarian, German, and Polish. He lives in New York with his wife and four children.
