An American actor with a distinguished career in stage, film and television, John Benjamin Hickey plays the lead role of Michael in Sublet (2020). He won the 2011 Tony Award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play for his role as Felix Turner in The Normal Heart. A native of Plano, Texas, Hickey recently starred on Broadway and London’s West End in the acclaimed drama The Inheritance. He originated the role of Arthur in Terrence McNally’s Love! Valour! Compassion!. In addition, he appeared in the Broadway revival of Cabaret in 1998 and the 2002 production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible. He is now directing the upcoming Broadway production of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite, starring Matthew Broderick and Sarah Jessica Parker.

Hickey has also had an extensive career in television and movies. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his performance in the series The Big C (2010-2013) and appeared in such shows as The Good Wife (2011-2016), The Good Fight (2017 – ), Law & Order (1990-2010), Alias (2001-2006), Modern Family (2009-2020), Manhattan (2014-2015), and many others. His film career includes roles in Mapplethorpe (2018), Flags of Our Fathers (2006), The Taking of Pelham 123 (2009), Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), and The Bone Collector (1999).
