Julia Hildebrand hails from Germany, where she earned her BA in American Studies with a double minor in Media Studies and Intercultural Communication at the University of Regensburg. During her MA degree in Comparative Media Studies at the same institution, she drew on experiences from two study abroad semesters in Communication at the Hawai’i Pacific University and Ateneo de Manila University.
For her dissertation, Julia explores the recreational and artistic uses of consumer drones in the United States along with the socio-cultural implications of the aerial technology. Besides teaching courses in Communication, she is currently working as a research assistant at Drexel University’s Center for Mobilities Research and Policy.
