Raphael Margules, along with co-producer J.D. Lifshitz, launched BoulderLight Pictures in 2012 with the production of the body horror film Contracted (2013), a major theatrical and VOD hit for IFC Midnight that was quickly followed by a sequel. Over the following years, BoulderLight continued to grow its production arm with a number of genre films and expanded to work alongside global leaders in the industry. Their psychological thriller Dismissed (2017), starring Dylan Sprouse, was produced as part of a three-picture slate deal with Making Film Productions LTD – one of Hong Kong’s most prominent entertainment companies – and their tinder-based thriller Bad Match (2017) was a co- production with MM2 Entertainment, Singapore’s leading media company.

In 2014, BoulderLight launched its international sales arm at the Cannes Film Festival. Their most recent release, the fraternity horror film Pledge (2018), premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival and was released by IFC Midnight in January 2019. Their next release, the sci-fi/horror anthology film Portals (2019), features segments directed by Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project), Timo Tjahjanto (HeadshotVHS franchise), and Liam O’Donnell (the Skyline franchise). Concurrently, with the release of The Vigil (2019), BoulderLight was in production on the “überstylish” thriller Becky (2020), directed by Cannes and Sundance alum Jonathan Milott and Cary Murnion (BushwickCooties) and starring Kevin James (the Paul Blart franchise, The King of Queens) and Lulu Wilson (The Haunting of Hill House, the Annabelle franchise).
