Philadelphia Jewish Film Festival | November 4-19
This big, ambitious festival offers screenings all over the area. There are way too many films to list in this blog post, but here are a few standouts:
More Alive Than Dead Tzachi Schiff’s documentary uses “surreal animation sequences and absorbing interview segments” to discuss the work of Sigmund Freud. (Wednesday, November 8 @ National Museum of American Jewish History)
Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story Director Alexandra Dean builds his documentary around four “lost” interviews with the actress from 1990. (Saturday, November 11@ The Gershman Y)
Monsieur Mayonnaise A culinary and historical documentary by French-born filmmaker Trevor Graham. (Monday, November 13 @ The Gershman Y)
Saving Neta Director Nir Bergman loosely connects four stories in this artful narrative feature. (Thursday, November 16 @ Ritz East)
